Hutchinson, Calabria, Stephenson Endorse Chaudhuri
Join Cowell, McFarlane, IndyWeek, NARAL
RALEIGH, N.C. – Wake County Commissioners Sig Hutchinson and Matt Calabria and Raleigh City Councilor Russ Stephenson today announced that they are endorsing Democrat Jay Chaudhuri for State Senate in the primary election on Tuesday, March 15th.
“I’m honored to have the support of Sig, Matt and Russ in the final days of the campaign,” said Chaudhuri. “We’ve built a winning coalition since I announced my candidacy last year, and I look forward to working with my fellow public servants and the people of my district to build a North Carolina that works for everybody.”
Chaudhuri has earned widespread support by standing up for North Carolina children and families throughout his career. He has made improving public education and building a fairer economy the cornerstones of his campaign, proposing to increase teacher pay to above the national average and cut taxes for working- and middle-class families.
Hutchinson, Calabria and Stephenson join a coalition supporting Chaudhuri that consists of a dozen elected officials at several levels of government, including State Treasurer Janet Cowell and Raleigh Mayor Nancy McFarlane. He is endorsed by organized labor and NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina. Chaudhuri was also endorsed last week by IndyWeek.
